01 — FUNNEL MAPPING
The AARRR Funnel on X
Context: Maps user behavior on X to the standard growth funnel phases.
Applying the AARRR framework highlights how user growth and content loops behave on X:
- Acquisition: Users land on the platform via high-signal tech content, real-time news updates, and external shares.
- Activation: Driven by immediate access to relevant content and real-time updates. The core friction is hook quality—users decide in seconds whether to stay or exit. A weak hook leads to silent drop-off before activation occurs.
- Retention: Sustained by continuous fresh posts and real-time validation (e.g., immediate community signals during live events). X acts as a real-time, user-validated information layer.
02 — GAP IDENTIFICATION
Distinguishing Gaps from Growth Trade-offs
Context: Analyzes structural gaps in user activation and creator engagement loops.
Rather than treating all friction points as problems, we evaluate them against platform growth trade-offs:
- Hook Quality Dependency: Activation relies heavily on creator skill, causing inconsistent user onboarding quality.
- Urgency Overload: High-signal real-time content drives immediate engagement but creates cognitive overload, threatening long-term retention.
- Value Hidden in Comments: Creators place primary resources (links/PDFs) in comment threads to boost search algorithm ranking, adding navigation friction for users seeking the resource.
- Creator Visibility Friction: Creators struggle to track post performance, slowing down content creation feedback loops.
03 — PRIORITIZATION
Prioritizing Growth Epics via RICE
Context: Renders the RICE framework scoring table and outlines the selected launch epic.
We designed three product epics targeting Activation and Retention, prioritizing them using the RICE model:
- Structured Post + Resource Format: Allows creators to attach files/links directly to posts via a "View Resource" CTA, bypassing comment-thread hunting. (RICE Score: 100.8 — Reach: 9, Impact: 7, Confidence: 8, Effort: 5).
- Creator Surface: A simplified feed-level dashboard for tracking post replies and analytics to encourage creator retention. (RICE Score: 49 — Reach: 6, Impact: 7, Confidence: 7, Effort: 6).
- Dual Feed Modes (Calm vs. Raw): Adds a togglable curated slow-feed option to reduce cognitive overload and user fatigue. (RICE Score: 42 — Reach: 7, Impact: 9, Confidence: 6, Effort: 9).
