NOTION

Vitafit

A behavior-first fitness feature suite designed to transition users from passive scrolling to deep, uninterrupted session presence.

01 — PROBLEM FRAMING

The Scroll-Brain & Notification Churn

Context: Identifies how external notifications and passive habits degrade workout completion rates.

In modern fitness applications, user retention is often threatened by digital fragmentation. When users open a fitness app, they carry their high-stimulation "scroll-brain" with them, treating active workouts like passive video consumption. Quantitative insights indicate that 35% of session drops occur within 30 seconds of a device notification appearing. Users drop off because their attention is constantly interrupted, not because the exercise content itself is lacking.

02 — TARGET AUDIENCE

The Over-Stimulated and The Mindful

Context: Details the focus-seeking personas driving the need for presence mechanics.

We focus on two key user segments:

  • The Over-Stimulated Professional: Spends their working hours on screens. They need the fitness app to act as an immersive "portal" to disconnect from work and commit to physical movement.
  • The Mindful Athlete: Prioritizes mental clarity, focus, and recovery metrics just as highly as calorie counts and physical performance stats.

03 — SOLUTION & PILLARS

The VitaFlow Initiative

Context: Outlines the gamified presence definitions and community accountability layers.

VitaFlow is a behavior-first system designed to reward focus and establish accountability through two core pillars:

  1. Flow-State Rewards: A gamification framework that rewards "Deep Sessions" (uninterrupted workout completion) with "Presence Points" and exclusive recovery audio or instructor-led sessions.
  2. Synchronous Squads: Small, closed support groups where members check in to shared workout windows, building community accountability without the stress of public social leaderboards.

Workout Definitions

  • Completed Session: Watching ≥ 95% of a workout video.
  • Deep Session: A completed session achieved with ≥ 90% uninterrupted app presence (with a brief < 2 minutes tolerance for urgent system alerts).
04 — ENGAGEMENT FLOWS

The Pre-Workout Bridge & Flow Meter

Context: Visualizes the UX flow designed to transition users into an active state of exercise.

To help users drop their screens and enter flow state, we map a sequence of contextual interventions:

  • The Bridge Screen (Intent Formation): Replaces standard loading states with a 30-second breathing and intent-setting exercise.
  • The Flow Meter (Real-time Feedback): A subtle, ambient indicator on the screen that fills up as long as the application remains in the foreground.
  • Squad Huddles (Post-workout Reinforcement): A dashboard displaying the group's collective presence hours and sharing a weekly voice update from lead instructors.

05 — SUCCESS METRICS

Measuring Attention and Completion

Context: Defines the indicators of focus engagement and group goal completion.

The system will be tested initially through a 10-day Presence Challenge MVP. Long-term success is defined by three key targets:

  • Workout Completion: A 20% increase in overall session completion rates.
  • Presence Streaks: Growth in users maintaining a 7-day Flow Streak (zero background app-switching during workouts).
  • Community Squad Adoption: Targeting 30% of active users joining a Squad and contributing to collective weekly minutes.
